Should the treatment of upper extremity DVT differ from lower extremity DVT?

Even though controversy exists about the rate of pulmonary embolism seen with upper and lower extremity DVT, current recommendations are that upper extremity DVT should be treated similarly to lower extremity DVT.  Click HERE for article.  (Am J of Med 2007;120:678).
